Transmutation of Legacy
The Artistic heritage of Joan Barbarà, the Master behind the Masters.
For its Paris debut, in parallel with Art Basel Paris, Studio 46 Barcelona presents Transmutation of Legacy, an exhibition curated by Martin Sky that introduces the gallery’s bold curatorial vision: bridging generations, continents, and artistic languages through a powerful dialogue between heritage and reinvention. With a vernissage on October 21, the exhibition will be open to the public from October 22 to 26, 2025, at 5 Rue Rouget de Lisle, 75001 Paris.
In the heart of Studio 46 Barcelona, a unique dialogue unfolds, where the timeless heritage of Joan Barbarà meets the visionary spirits of Juliana Plexxo, and Cory James Jacobsen.
Transmutation of Legacy is a celebration of transformation and renewal, a poetic journey that bridges generations and mediums, inviting Paris to witness how tradition is reborn through contemporary creativity.
Held in an intimate temporary space in the 1st arrondissement, the exhibition invites viewers into the evolving universe of Studio 46 Barcelona, a Barcelona-based private gallery founded in the historic home of master printmaker Joan Barbarà, known for his collaborations with Picasso, Miró, Chagall, and Dalí. Today, his legacy is carried forward not through nostalgia, but through reinvention, by artists who use tradition as a point of departure for new, vital forms of expression.
A highlight of the opening night will be a live painting by Juliana Plexxo, bringing her visual language to life in real time.
