This painting by Joan Barbarà, reactivated by Virgili Barbarà, presents a vibrant and balanced still life in which domestic objects coexist with strong symbolic resonance. A set of teapots, pitchers, glasses, and cups unfolds across an intense red tablecloth, contrasted by an orange background reminiscent of a blazing sky — almost a mythical sunset.
The white objects, adorned with blue lines, exhibit formal restraint that emphasizes their visual weight. The use of color does not aim for realistic mimesis but rather a symbolic structure, where red evokes warmth and vitality, while sky blues convey serenity and balance.
In the lower left corner, a white napkin with a spoon introduces a quotidian, almost narrative touch, subtly breaking the symmetry with an intimate gesture.
The medium format (66 × 82 cm) reinforces the contained and contemplative character of the piece. The painted sky in the background, with thick, free brushstrokes, enhances the emotional dimension of the composition, elevating the domestic to the poetic.
The reactivation carried out by Virgili Barbarà not only preserves the original spirit of the painting, but also subtly updates it, enhancing its color and structure without compromising its essence.
