The still-life series, one of the most representative of Joan Barbarà, is exhibited in the Joan Barbarà Room at Studio 46 Barcelona. These works, part of the "Suite Bodegón", were featured in an exhibition at the Maeght Gallery, which toured across Europe and was accompanied by the published catalog Joan Barbarà Obra Gráfica. Additionally, they have been showcased at Sala Dalmau, Galería Eude, and other artistic spaces. Dated 1991, these pieces stand out in his body of work for the mastery with which he synthesizes the still-life tradition with a modern and personal vision, making these paintings timeless.

In his Bodegón project, Barbarà explored the representation of everyday objects, seeking to capture their essence and simplicity. As an artistic genre, still life focuses on depicting inanimate elements, allowing the artist to experiment with composition, light, and texture.

Despite being a highly skilled artist with great mastery of drawing, it was in still life that Barbarà found true freedom. Although his technique was precise and perfectionist, this genre allowed him to break free from rules and prejudices, exploring new forms of expression without the limitations of academicism.

Barbarà’s evolution in the still-life genre reflects his ability to adapt and reinterpret artistic traditions, blending classical techniques with contemporary approaches to offer a unique and personal vision of still life.

Throughout his career, he transitioned from a realistic approach to more modern and abstract forms. This change reflected his desire to innovate and adapt to contemporary artistic movements while maintaining his interest in still life as a means of expression. His ability to combine traditional techniques with modern approaches allowed him to create unique works that showcase his artistic evolution and his deep connection to the creative freedom that this genre provided him.
