The painting is inspired by contemporary literary works (1945-present) & one Victorian work: Novels which have been censored or banned at some juncture in their complex historic journey’s which mixes noteriety and acclamation; narratives that confront a diverse range of sensitive topics including, totalitarianism, drug use, racial themes and language, sexual perversion and ultraviolence.Two of the novels are referenced directly in the painting.
