Biography
Carlos Pazos is a Spanish artist whose work spans neo-dadaism, art povera, surrealism, and the aesthetics of Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol, and Marcel Broodthaers. A multifaceted creator, Pazos blends humor with profound drama to question modernity and the systems of representation. His art, often using kitsch objects and souvenirs, explores themes of identity, fiction, and the poetics of the object. He received the National Prize for Plastic Arts in 2004 and the National Prize for Visual Arts in 2008 for his exhibition No em diguis res at the MACBA and Museo Reina Sofía.
