Created over six decades (1949–2008), the series captures the island’s natural beauty and subtle traces of humanity with extraordinary detail and consistency. Barbarà’s meticulous craft extracts nuanced textures and contrasts from copper plates, vividly depicting elements like grass, shrubs, whitewashed houses, and luminous skies. Part of the series of engravings was later used to create an illustrated book. Baltasar Porcel, in the book’s epilogue, lauded the series for preserving the essence of a paradisiacal microcosm.
